Get quick answers to the most common questions

We hope to answer some of your most basic questions about our imaging and PICC insertions services.

Why do I need a Physician's order for an X-ray or other Imaging services exams?

The law requires a written order for ALL imaging exams. Patients should be evaluated by their physician prior to any imaging examination so that the proper body part may be imaged appropriately.

How long will my procedure take?

Each procedure requires a different amount of time generally ranging from a few minutes to 30 minutes. Some exams may take longer than 30 minutes.

How long will it take to get the results?

We know that our patients are anxious for the results of the procedure. With this in mind, we have made the process as efficient as possible. Our radiologists read your results on site and provide your physician with a report within 24 hours.

Why do I need a chest X-ray for a cough?

X-rays. Although a routine chest X-ray won't reveal the most common reasons for a cough — postnasal drip, acid reflux or asthma — it may be used to check for lung cancer, pneumonia and other lung diseases. An X-ray of your sinuses may reveal evidence of a sinus infection.

Can you see bronchitis on a Chest X-ray?

If you're uncertain about whether or not your symptoms are those of chronic bronchitis, tests are available to help your doctor make a definitive diagnosis: A chest X-ray can help rule out other lung conditions, such as pneumonia, that may be causing your cough. Sputum is the mucus that you cough up from your lungs.

Can I eat or drink prior to my test?

For most exams utilizing our diagnostic services, you can eat/drink and take medicines prior to having your exam. However, the preparation instructions for ultrasound procedures will be explained by your technician when your exam is scheduled. If you have additional questions, you may contact us at (702) 896-0473 or (888) 592-0550

What do ultrasounds detect?

Ultrasound is used to create images of soft tissue structures, such as the gallbladder, liver, kidneys, pancreas, bladder, and other organs and parts of the body. Ultrasound can also measure the flow of blood in the arteries to detect blockages.

Can stomach cancer be detected by an ultrasound?

Ultrasound for stomach cancer. If there is fluid in your abdomen, your doctor may use an abdominal ultrasound when diagnosing stomach cancer. Ultrasound produces images of organs from high-energy sound waves and echoes. It may be used to check for tumors in the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and kidneys.

What is a PICC line?

PICC stands for “Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter”. A PICC line is a catheter that is inserted into a vein in your upper arm. The catheter is then advanced and positioned in a large vein in your chest just above the heart.

How is a PICC line inserted?

The insertion of the PICC line does not require surgery. A specialist nurse or technician places a PICC line into a large vein in your arm and guides the CVC up into the main vein near your heart where blood flows quickly. Once the PICC is in place, the catheter tube will stick out of your skin.

Does Medicare pay for PICCline insertions in the patient's home?

Unfortunately Medicare DOES NOT authorize or pay for PICC lines to be inserted at a patient's home. However, we do offer a "Cash Payment" option for those patients with Medicare who are willing to pay for placement services. Please contact our office for pricing. (702) 896-0473

How long do you keep dressing on after PICC line removal?

Keep the dressing on for 24 hours. Replace the dressing if it becomes wet or dirty. After 24 hours, you may remove the dressing and shower or bathe as usual. If there is any bleeding, apply gentle pressure for two (2) minutes.
